The Research Triangle’s regional business community values collaboration and cooperation. While we continue to address business and quality of life issues, we must continue to capitalize on opportunities of job creation, talent development, diversity, entrepreneurship, and growth as a region. We must also embrace the challenges that are associated with that growth. The Chambers of Commerce listed above share the statewide business community’s focus on Education and Talent Supply, Competitive Business Climate, and Infrastructure and Growth Leadership issues (ncchamber.com/legislative-agenda), especially:

  • Support sustainable early childhood education policy reforms and innovations that address the growing workforce challenges of the business community.

  • Advocate for proper assessment efforts, programs, and policies to help cultivate and enrich an emerging talent pipeline.

  • Work with the North Carolina Community College System to advance policy reforms and initiatives in support of a robust workforce, including Propel NC.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with economic development organizations and leaders to assist with the legislative priorities in alignment with those of the Chambers’ that impact the well-being of North Carolina.

  • Support permitting efficiency reforms that foster economic growth in North Carolina and accelerate job creation.

  • Support efforts to update and expand long term business and infrastructure resiliency and disaster recovery.

  • Support Regional Transportation Alliance (letsgetmoving.org) initiatives including advocating for resilient transportation funding such as an access user fee, accelerating bus rapid transit, and advancing other multimodal priorities.

  • Promote a forward-thinking, “all-of-the-above” energy strategy that supports grid modernization and reliability and improves access to natural gas, nuclear, biomass, geothermal, renewables, solar, and wind power.

  • Work to mitigate regulatory barriers and address challenges to housing affordability and availability to improve opportunities for the state’s workforce.
